ABOUT US
MILANG CEMETERY
Landseer Road
Milang Cemetery was first gazetted in 1855 and is now heritage listed. There are many old headstones, some dating back to the 1870s. The burial records list more than 700 names. Of these there are 150 unmarked graves and 70 sites are unknown.
The Friends of the Milang Cemetery group was set up in 2002 to help maintain the site. A great deal of work has been done to paths and gardens, many graves have been restored and the records have been revised and corrected.
An Information Board has been erected to help visitors locate grave sites and to record some local Family History. If you can add to this information or help locate grave sites your assistance will be welcome.
The link below will load the pages of the Cemetery Database. It is hoped that this information will be of assistance to all those who wish to know more about their ancestors or those who have contributed to the history of Milang.

MILANG & DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Museum, Milang Oval Complex
The Society maintains a collection of documents and photographs at its headquarters, The Chapel, in Stirling Street and an extensive collection of farm machinery, fire appliances and other larger items at its Museum at the Milang Oval.
A feature of the museum is the display illustrating the methods used by fishermen on the Lake which owes a lot to the enthusiasm of Victor Woodrow whose family was involved in this industry for many years. The backdrop which depicts the foreshore at Milang in earlier times and sets off the display so effectively was the work of members of the Milang Art Group.
Vic Woodrow's book Boats Across The Lake is available from the Society; as is the comprehensive history of the district, Alexandrina's Shore edited by Jim Faull; as well as Lance Wakefield's Belvidere: Gateway to the Lakes and River.
The Museum is open on the last Sunday of each month from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm.
