In 1954 the town was supplied with water from the Lake and in 1962 the pipeline was extended to Strathalbyn. The pumphouse and the tanks are no longer needed since in 2000 the flow in the pipeline was reversed to supply Milang with treated water from the plant near Littlehampton.
