Albert Landseer began erecting a 'very large store' in 1867 on Daranda Terrace but he had already been in business on the site since 1857. Eventually other buildings, including a large four-story flour mill and chimney, were added to form the headquarters of a shipping business which included branches at Morgan and elsewhere and a number of paddle steamers and barges. |

The general store closed in 1959 and the mill buildings were demolished and the present shopping centre built. Eventually the other buildings were also removed.
